This program started life early in 1993. I had just acquired my first PC
and this struck me as being an interesting project.
My initial aim was to display the election graphs (the View window) for
the November 1992 election.
Once that was working, I decided to extend the
program to allow for forecasting election results based on
opinion poll results (the Predict window). Having done that,
I felt that a prediction mechanism based on candidates rather than parties
was required, so I developed the Spreadsheet function.
I have kept the database up-to-date with Dáil, Presidential, European and
Northern Ireland assembly election results.
Every so often, I have played about with the program, adding new features
and making it more usable. The last important feature was a proper
facility to switch between election results, added after the 1998 N.I.
Assembly elections.
